Identity Theft

The Federal Trade Commission's Identify Theft site helps teach consumers how to avoid identity theft – and learn what to do if their identity is stolen.

The Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General's Identify Theft site is similar to the FTC's website and the AG offers a Guide to ID Theft for Victims and Consumers.

Three credit bureaus hold the key to your credit.

Equifax

Experian

TransUnion

Annual Credit Report is the site set up by the big three credit reporting agencies in the United States to furnish one (1) free annual credit report from each agency, as required by federal law.

Instead of getting all three free reports at once, it's a good idea to get one free credit report every four (4) months from a different bureau. This way, you can see your credit picture throughout the year and keep better track of your credit.
